Three Dutch soldiers were shot and wounded early Saturday in downtown Indianapolis after a disturbance outside their hotel.

Three Off-Duty Dutch Commandos Were Shot Outside A Hotel In Indianapolis

The incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. EDT in Indianapolis’ entertainment district. Three gunshot-wounded individuals were escorted to hospitals by Indianapolis police.

The Dutch military ministry said one soldier was in serious condition, and the two others were conscious. Indianapolis police said two soldiers were critical and one stable.

The ministry said the three Commando Corps members were training in Indiana when they were shot in front of their hotel during their free time.

Indianapolis police believe the three victims were involved in a fight that led to the shooting.

The ministry said the shooting victims’ families had been informed while Indianapolis police kept investigating the shooting.

No Arrests

The Indiana National Guard said the soldiers trained at the 1,000-acre (405-hectare) Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, 40 miles (65 km) southeast of Indianapolis.

The Guard stated in a statement that the centre is utilized for training by the Department of Defense “as well as other allies.”

After work, the Dutch soldiers visited Indianapolis. Our thoughts and prayers are with the soldiers and families during this terrible time,” the Guard said, WXIN-TV reported.
